Imagine wanting to dimension the length of the angled face from the projected intersection of the 2 faces.
We can do this using the distance between dimension command. Select the Distance between dimension command, change the option from Horizontal/Vertical to Dimension Axis and then select the Dimension axis button from the smart step ribbon. Select the outside angled edge as the orientation for the dimension.
To now place the dimension, move over the top edge, move over the angled edge shown above and then move the cursor to where the intersection will be. When you see the intersection glyph display, click for the first point of the dimension.
At the bottom of the angled face, move over the lower angled face (shown) and the move over the dimension angled face and then find the intersection point and click.
Place the dimension off to the right to complete.
